Hiya, 
I was just thinking that the spectacular pictures of New Zealand mascarading as Middle Earth in last years Fellowship of the Ring deserved a mention in this discussion. Wonderful soaring aerial shots of some magnificent and greatly varied landscapes. Ahh. I'm getting misty-eyed just thinking about it!
I recently watched the classic western 'The Big Country' and that too has excellent sweeping shots of the wide open spaces of the American West. I spose that doesn't quite fit under the same heading, but there is a link there somewhere!
