That dash of Confucianism...

Post 1

the autist formerly known as flinch

I know very little about Ho's brand of communism, and knowing that he'd been instrumental in China, assumed that he had a similar Taoist -communist blend to Mao.

What are the main differences between the two (Mao and Ho) and where do Ho's confucian leanings manifest themselves?

Great entry, i really enjoyed it.

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

Thanks, autist. I think Ho was more more pragmatic than Mao and far less dogmatic. It seems out of character, for example, for Ho to have committed himself to a misguided program of reform like Mao's so-called Great Leap Forward, which was a disaster. I think you could say that Ho's confusionism is manifest in the nature of Vietnamese nationalism and the peasant army resistance to French and later American imperialism. I'm not an expert on either Taoism or Confusianism, I hasten to add. smiley - smiley
