A Conversation for LSD

I think this is a bit awkward: "If one frequently takes large doses of LSD - perhaps 12 blotters - one will become what is known as an 'acid casualty'."

Perhaps it could be changed to: "Someone who frequently takes large doses of LSD - perhaps twelve blotters - can become known as an 'acid casualty'."

Otherwise, good entry! Nice to see illegal drugs getting a presence on h2g2!

Thought that was something about prison for a moment.

Thanks- I'm not sure how updating works, but I've had some other comments and suggested changes.

Do you know how updating works?

Generally one of the italics will come and visit this thread and make any corrections or minor changes.

A new update system is being planned though, but until then you are best talking to an italic or the sub-editor for minor changes.

This isn't a correction, so much as an observation, and being in this thread, it's in the Guide anyway.

There's acid casualties and there's acid casualties. I never took anything close to 12 blotters at once (when I was doing this sort of thing a lot), but I was reasonably twitchy for a year or two from frequent doses of one or two hits. I was always basically functional (and it *was* fun), and the people who were taking double digit doses certainly got further out than I did, some to the level that I'd really call 'damage', but I hope it doesn't seem like we're suggesting that small doses, in any frequency, won't leave their mark too.

As someone said in another thread here, people with pre-existing mental conditions shouldn't take any halucinogenic drugs, unless they want to take a trip from which they might not return.

That said, I kind of miss the stuff.

There do seem to exist people who can eat LSD like candy and still be fine. I don't know how that works.

Some people just get chucked into the deep end of the gene pool. Nothing to do with one cigar/day or anything like that. Pity, if there was a Secret of Longevity life'd be a lot... well, a lot longer for one thing.
