What about the Spanish Inquisition sketches?

'Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our main weapon is surprise, surprise and fear.
'Our TWO main weapons are fear and surprise and ruthless efficiency.

'Our THREE main weapons are fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, and a FANATICAL devotion to the Pope.

'Our four... I'll come in again.'

Special Agent Poops

I love the episode where they've done the Spanish Inquisition joke a few times, so everyone knows the joke. The sketch is a courtroom setting, and eventually the man being questioned goes, "Well I didnt expect this sort of Spanish Inquisition..." and everyone in the court quickly looks towards the door, waiting for them to burst in! Then it cuts to the Spanish Inquisition guys running for a bus to get to the court! heeheehee

Its like they're "on call" for whenever anyone anywhere says their introduction

For me, the best bit is the pre-amble. Chapman and (I think) Carol Cleveland:

Chapman (Yorkshire miner): Trouble at t'mill.
Cleveland (refined, gentile): What sort of trouble?
Chapman: One o't'crossbeams gone out askew on t'treadle.
Cleveland: I beg your pardon?
Chapman: One o't'crossbeams gone out askew on t'treadle.
Cleveland: I'm sorry, I still don't understand.
Chapman (breaking out of Yorkshire miner voice - slow, patient, and condescending): One of the crossbeams has gone out askew on the treddle.
Cleveland: But what does that mean?
Chapman: I don't know. I was just told to come in and say there was trouble at the mill. I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition...

(Dramatic chord, and enter Palin, Gilliam and Jones all dressed in red...)

Sorry if I got any of that wrong, but I am reproducing it from memory...

David.
