Say after me, slaves : Beer can, jam ear can. Ho ho ho.

Patito!
Nice to see you again!
Clare,
Ducks sure do have serrated bills - they're ruthless territorial killers, I tell ya (they almost did in my first rescued ducky when I tried to put him in the local duck pond - had to rescue him again!) Luckily by this time he was getting quite used to bike rides and didn't squirm around.
Fnord,
There is also a thing called 'over-sensitivity' which you and I seem to have by the buckets full. Get over it, honey, you're with friends here.

I'm not questioning my own faith. everyone else is doing that for me! Do you share my beliefs? Has clare deserted the sinking ship? Come back Hoo, I'm sick of ducks!!
By the way , are you 15? Not that i really care, I'm just interested.

Jem,
Sick of ducks?
It turns out that Hoo is thinking of leaving h2g2, which I think would be a terrible loss. In fact, I *know* it would be a terrible loss. Have pleaded with him not to go. Perhaps the rest of you might also want to have a go.

Clare Posted May 22, 2003
Oh no!!! He can't! Hoo, don't let those (insert suitable epithet)s drive you away, just because of their petty little claims they can't back up. Life on h2g2 would be really boring without you. Please don't go.

Hoovooloo Posted May 22, 2003
Right, let's nip this in the bud, I am NOT thinking of leaving h2g2. In fact something has cheered me considerably this afternoon, but I cannot say what.
And no, Jem, I'm afraid I'm very much the wrong side of 16...
Sick of ducks? How can you be sick of ducks? I'm tempted to say "sick my duck", but that would just be coarse...
Back after Tai Chi...

Noggin the Nog Posted May 22, 2003
Seconded.
h2g2 wouldn't be the same with no Hoo.
Welcome back Jem; hope the exams went well.
Don't worry about your age, Fnord. You'll be old soon enough.
It's what you have to say that counts.

Whose subject line is this? And what does it mean?
Glad you're staying Hoo.

azahar Posted May 22, 2003
Wild guess, Clare, I'd say it was Fnord's subject heading. Don't think he has got the 'trinity' concept.

Clare Posted May 22, 2003
hmm yes. What do you think it means though?

azahar Posted May 22, 2003
ummm . . . nothing?
The 'Trinity' concept, the 'Neo' concept, the 'Morpheus' concept
Hoovooloo Posted May 22, 2003
No prizes for guessing which film I'm obsessing about right now...

Mal Posted May 22, 2003
Yes, it is Fnord's, yes, he is fifteen and wishes to be old enough (but for what, Noggin?), yes, it does mean something, and no, you obviously haven't even tried saying it out loud yet. I might even post what it means if someone easks in the next few minutes, but it's really not very funny, especially when you have to explain it.

Mal Posted May 22, 2003
Damn you, Hoo, changing the subject at the exact same time as I post! No matter, I'll try and make mine last. So, what IS the "Trinity" concept?
Say after me, slaves : Beer can, jam ear can. Ho ho ho.
Mal Posted May 22, 2003
Has anyone else noticed that the Matrix seems to be a modern update of the bible?
Say after me, slaves : Beer can, jam ear can. Ho ho ho.
Noggin the Nog Posted May 22, 2003
Wish I knew, Fnord. I have this horrible fear I'm not going to find out until it's too late.

Hoovooloo Posted May 22, 2003
Has anyone NOT noticed the Biblical reference in the Matrix?
- when Keanu gives the guy the disk of hacked software, the guy says "You're my saviour man, my own personal Jesus Christ".
- the craft is called the Nebuchadnezzar, from Zion
- Trinity's name...
- Neo's "real" name is Thomas Anderson - "Thomas", as in the doubting apostle - he doubts that he is the One - and "Anderson" - son of Man.
- Neo dies, but rises from the dead, and in the final shot of the film, ascends into heaven.
Can anyone suggest more? (I'm assuming here that you've all seen the first film, and if you haven't... I'm sorry, I simply don't know how to relate to people who haven't. What is WRONG with those people? Oh, and see also... A646922)

Mal Posted May 22, 2003
I can explain both of them. *sigh*.
Beer can, jam ear can. Say it. It should sound like you're saying "Bacon Jamaican" in a Jamaican accent. Lordy.
Bible parallels - I'm sure someone else has noticed by now and put up an entry somewhere on hootoo, so the basics: Neo = Christ, who awakes to his responsibilities, Morpheus is John the Baptist, Neo is reborn by Trinity, who is Mary. There's more, but I've forgotten most of it.
