A Conversation for Overcoming Depression

This is probably only the case for a tiny percent of depressed people, but I'm convinced that it helped me enormously. For 5 years I was a vegetarian, and for most of it I suffered from low-level depression. I wasn't anemic, but I was constantly tired and anxious; eating school food I couldn't keep a balanced diet. Then I started eating meat again -- and literally a month later I had tremendous amounts of energy, I was awake, felt less stressed and generally more emotionally healthy. Probably I'll go back to being a vegetarian in college when I can sustain a healthy diet -- I'm not coming out against vegetarianism -- but I do feel a lot better emotionally now that I'm getting more iron and protein. Of course its a lot more complicated than that and a lot of other stuff had to change but the diet thing really helped.
