A Conversation for Staple Removers
The evil plot of stationary manufacturers.

Before staplers were invented needles or pins were used to keep pages of documents together. Pulling out the pin, which was threaded twice through the sheets, could easily separate the documents. Then staplers came along and the need for staple removers arose.
There is another way though, a way most staple remover manufacturers would rather you didn't know about. If you turn the base plate around on a stapler the pins on a staple are pushed outwards, not inwards. This makes staples far easier to remove by hand; you just have to pull it out like the original pin.
So if you ever need documents to be attached together temporarily reverse the plate.
I am proud to say that I have never owned a staple remover.
