I am a mathematician (from the planet mathematicia?). I really really thought your entry was croovy. The slight and inconsequential reference to jewellery has spurred me to put finger to keyboard, as I am noted amongst my non-mathematical friends for my passion for numbers, manifest in a tiny silver abacus on a chain around my neck. The little beads move and everything. Unfortunately my fingers are two big to operate it.

Well, I suppose I'm mistaken then. Abaci do appear as jewlery now and then.
You say it's made of silver? Sounds terribly expensive. I think I'd lose something as valuable (and small) as that. But then again, I can't hang on to cheap things either.

I don't know if it's actually silver. I do know it doesn't make me itch. (Hurrah). It is about 10X14mm, and very sweet. I don't think it was very expensive, but I've never seen one since, so it's quite valuable.
