Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: The show off is a fake and the monster is real, it's a very big snake. Blame Malfoy's dad
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: the serial killer who is after Harry is really a good guy or dog, the rat is bad.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Harry beats a dragon, doesn't drown then negotiates a maze and helps evil guy come back
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Harry isn't belived that much so forms his own army and raids the ministry of magic
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: Harry learns about the evil guy's past and lusts after a ginger girl then somebody dies
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Harry, Ron and Hermione go camping for a while and then eventually save the world
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Girl called Buffy slays vampires and other evil supernatural stuff in california. A Lot.
turnip: root vegtable praised by Pliny the Elder and beloved by Baldrick, usurped by pumkins for halloween jack-0-lanterns
The Crow (film): Corvine powered dead rock star is brought back on halloween to get revenge on his killers. Cost the star his life

Hallowe'en: an American commercial festival where children pester homeowners for sweets, called Autumn Festival in the bible belt
