I felt like a quick nut. I think this complements the Guide Entry on pistachios.

This is some good work, but (and please wait for more than just my opinion on this) I think you should update the existing entry rather than write another one. Neither of them is long enough to justify the split.

I tend to agree with Alex. There is very little overlap in terms of factual content with the earlier Entry A577127. You could readily incorporate your material as an update to the existing one.
But as Alex says, others may disagree...

No - I'm not disagreeing either, but rather busy today to make any suggestions or help with the Update procedure. But I'll be around in a couple of days if needed.

What do you reckon dsg? Do you think you'd like to go for the Update? It's not so hard to do - and once finished it goes straight into the Guide

I reckon, he said in his Westcountry drawl, that that, he repeated himself, would be good. But, he added, I need you to hold my hand.

I suggest that you import the whole of the text from the original article on pistachios.
(Read the update, - the link that Alex gave you in his reply here in PR - this gives very clear help.
Then, edit anything that looks as if it has been repeated - improve anything you think needs improving.
Oh yes and change to title to
UPDATE: The Benefits of Pistachios
and paste the original A number of the Entry you are updating here.
Then we can comment.

Lanzababy. How about the delicate issue of asking the original author, or is this not needed because the title has been changed? yourself.

Yes - you should definitely contact Bacchus - he last posted in January this year, so might return to collaborate with you.

If some decision is made to combine the two entries into one, I noticed a slight disagreement in this sentence:
The light brown shell is usually slightly open when the nut is a brilliant green colour, and ripe.
It's not both Light Brown and Brilliant Green at the same time, and the sentence doesn't well describe the points in the process of maturation and harvesting.
Also, it would have been nice to see some information about the plant as well.

"light brown shell is usually slightly open when the nut is a brilliant green colour"
I think light brown in the shell, with brilliant green referring to the nut inside.

I tried to merge the two articles, after contacting the original author, and obtaining agreement. My first effort failed, but nil desperandum, will try again, and hopefully the final product will be bright green, in a slightly open light brown shell.

I did an update to A577127, but it has disappeared into a black hole somewhere...

Ah - well it came back, I see.
I'm not sure how you go about adding the rather fine photograph, from the original Entry. I'll go and consider.
Apart from that, you will also need to add some links, mainly to relevant Edited Guide Entries, but there may be some BBC links and external links as well. If you're doing an Update, everything should be complete before it can be applied.

OK, added those links and picture, thanks. Also updated the researcher list to add the original researcher, but this means I'm magically elevated to be an editor which is not right. Perhaps you could solve that issue?
