A Conversation for Sundials
Surprisingly Accurate...

Several years ago I came across a sundial set up in the middle if the Royal Botanic Garden in Melbourne Australia. I had my Seiko scuba divers watch at the time and compared the accuracy of the sundial to that splendid instrument. Using the correction tables, I found the sundial to be VERY accurate.
Melbourne has a fairly large botanic garden, so I spent a few hours there and criss - crossed by the sundial several times. I checked it against my watch each time. A lot of effort went into the design of the sundial and apparently a lot of care in setting it up correctly. I was also impressed by the workmanship that went into it. Fortunately, Melbourne is not one of those places where the sun never shines.
