Why do you assume that the first possessor of blue eyes, and your hypothetical last possessor, are both men?

There's no way of knowing, of course. It could be possible that a man would be more likely to successfully spread such a mutation, because women so often died giving birth. But that's splitting hairs. I said 'he' because 'he or she' clunked and when I tried to make it gender neutral, it was very distracting.
