There is more but this is a gist of the main story. A few Mexican generals went out one night to have a good time. They were served a drink they really enjoyed and had a blast. Unfortunately everyone got too drunk to remember what the drink was originally called. However for some reason someone remembered the waitress was named Margarita, and so they used her name for the drink.
