I'm wondering which root of a Bonsai tree (substitued for ginseng) made a traditional medicine customer really ill in that old Jackie Chan classic? (I finally saw the film this past weekend.)

'Bonsai' is not a speci of plant, it is an art-form that gives its name TO the tree. If you Bonsai a willow sapling, it remains a willow, but to differentiate it from any other houseplant(and to sound a bit more cultured than your house-guests!), it is reffered to as 'the bonsai'. Get it? It's like a painting referred to not by title, but by the artist's name.
