Alright, I tried to get my nipple pierced. Twice. Unsuccessfully both times. My friend is a pro piercer, and so I asked him to do my nipple piercing since he already had done two other piercings for me. For some strange reason, the needle got stuck halfway through the nipple twice. He had never seen this before. Any ideas on what might have caused this?

Maybe he's not using enough 'force'? Has he done nipple piercings before? They can be quite tough. It's actually better to pierce the skin behind the nipple, rather than through the nipple itself.

I agree that the piercing should preferably be done behind the nipple, in the areola (?sp) rather than through the nipple itself. The nipple may be tougher but the amount of ring movement may cause it to move or "grow out". Best wishes for any future pierces you may get

How much does an ipple piercing cost? Is there any legislation like I have to take a parent with me or I can't get it done under the age of 16 or anything like that?

Are you in the UK? If so it's usually down to the discretion of the piercer, but they may do a nipple on an under 16 if they are accompanied by an over 16. I don't think you need parental consent, but it might be a policy of the piercer not to do younger than 16, or even 18.

If you do go ahead, I suggest that you go somewhere that also does ear-piercing, because they have to register, so you at least know that the piercer reaches certain standards.

Yes, yes I am. £25 it cost me and I didn't need an adult although I was with my friend who looks like she could be my very young parent or elder sister. Anyway it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and I wasn't in a position where I could see it or breathe, both of which helped once the needle was inserted.

I have to clean it three times a day but I don't know how long for. Does anyone else?

I still have to clean mine regularly and I've had it for five years.

When do they say you can stop?

Can't remember them giving me a time, but you don't really want to stop cleaning your piercings, do you? That's the way to infection.

Well there is that. How long until I can change it and put a different ring in?

I think it's a few months, 12 weeks or so, but mine were done a long time ago, so I can't really remember. Didn't they tell you this when they did the piercing?

No, he said it was just the same as my ear. Trouble is I have two piercings in my ear, one in the top and one in the bottom. I'll check on the internet, it'll be there somewhere.
