A Conversation for Mandolins
Mandolin Wind

'Mandolin Wind' is a fabulous Rod (the mod) Stewart song found on the LP, Every Picture Tells A Story. Not only does he sing this song with all the soulful plaintiveness one normally associates with the likes of Bob Dylan and 'dust bowl' country and blues balladeers... Rod Stewart actually *wrote* the bloody thing as well!
And as for his version of 'Man of Constant Sorrow'...
Our Rodney may have arguably fallen from grace a little over the years as he appears to have grown accustomed to ostentatious displays of wealth, but if you ever get the chance, play a few of his early solo recordings. They are sublime - always a total surprise for the uninitiated. Listening to this stuff, you could almost forgive the man anything.
