the best kazoo-swanny whisle one ever was when they did Bonny and Cher's 'I got you babe.' Sheer genius.

No, I KNOW I can't spell.

Gwennie

Well done and thank you for an amusing article that was an excellent accompaniment to my morning infusion of tea! smiley - bigeyes

I've also "had a nose" round your h2g2 home page whilst consuming a whole pot of tea and found it most entertaining (your page - not the tea). smiley - silly

Thin Lizzy

I'm with Gwennie-That was a great entry! We used to listen to "I'm sorry I haven't a Clue" in the car on the way to wherever it was we were going. The first bar and a half of that music at the beginning always confused me-it sounded like some American march tune(As the theme tune for "Monty Python's Flying Circus" was), until the silly beat started, and we all sat bolt upright to listen to it!

I think the first bar of the theme tune is the German national anthem...

It is indeed - and I suspect Humph of some involvement in the tune, being a rather good jazz trumpeter with his own band and all.

Or maybe Colin Sell-the bloke who plays the piano

I seem to recall the theme tune first being used in the 1965 comedy film "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines" (See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059797/ ) The tune was heard at every appearance of the large, accident-prone German character played by Gert Froebe (who also played Goldfinger). This would explain why it starts with the German anthem, but immediately collapses into a pompous, wobbly mess, ending in discord. Can anyone confirm?

i thought it was the german bloke from magnificent men too,
the best part of the film to hear the theme is where he has just fallen into d water after his hot air ballon dule with the frenchie.

i know i sound like a retentive nerd but im not really.

despite the fact im typing a post about a small piece of music from a fairly obscure film at nearly midnight.

i have a life!! really i do. honest...
