A Conversation for I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue - the Radio Series

Whose Line Is It Anyway?

The US TV version of "Whose Line..." is a cheap rip-off of the UK TV version, which itself was a cheap rip-off of the sublime Radio 4 series, which may, in its scoring system, have paid tribute to "I'm sorry,..." but which differed in that it was not shy to regularly use genuine mime on the radio!

The only show I can think of which was improved by the transfer to TV is Goodness Gracious Me, which I remember as being appallingly unfunny on radio.

Possibly. Although "Bhangra Man", the turban-wearing superhero was very funny, and would have cost too much to do justice to on TV... (His answer to an incoming meteorite which was going to destroy the planet, for instance, was to wrap a giant turban round mount Everest and bounce it back into space...smiley - smiley)

Bhangra Man is alive and well and extremely funny in the TV version - he is an obvious tribute to all Bollywood film stars.

I'm glad to hear it! I saw no evidence of him in the first series, and I haven't seen the second series yet... smiley - bigeyes

I loved what they did with the "Brief Encounter" sketch on TV - I had expected to be disappointed, but the cinematography was spot-on!

The "Back Where They Belong" special was also extremely amusing. The Coopers and the Robinsons going to India by mistake and meeting a group of English people who live in a commune.

The weird thing is, I have an Indian friend, and it was me who had to introduce him to this - he preferred to watch "Only Fools and Horses"!

Odd.
