That was particularly good, I recall. And yes, bring me the [object rhyming with head and connected with the film club theme] of Alfredo Garcia indeed.

Strange, but the only one I can actually remember is 'Bring me the crispbread of Alfredo Garcia' and I can't even remember what the theme was that time.

I remember there was an ISIHAC episode with *two* references to that film. The first was in a round of sponsored films/TV/radio, and it was "Bring Me the Head and Shoulders of Alfredo Garcia". The other was in a round called Smokers' Film Club: "Bring Me the Benson and Hedges of Alfredo Garcia".
You may wish to know that other amusing titles in the sponsored round were things like "BBC Proms - I Can't Tell It's Not Bartok" and sponsored by the Meat Marketing Board: "Prime Beef Suspect" with the theme tune sung by the Artist Formally Known As Mince. The Smokers' Film Club round also had "Tar Wars" with the sequel "The Empire Strikes A Light", but I think that's enough for one day, don't you think?
Mikeo.

The best round ever thou... one of:
i) proverbs in translations - players provide of common foreign proverbs
ii) national anthems - plkayers suggest new national anthems
iii) the one where tim brook-taylor gargled the flight of the bumble bee

On one of the Monty Python LP's (I think it's "Holy Grail") there's a reference to a film called "Bring Me The Head of Don Revie".
The topical significance being that Don Revie had been the very successful manager at Leeds United, and had left Leeds to manage England. However, he managed to invoke the ire and wrath of every back page journalist not (as is usual for an England manager)by displaying a lamentable inability to provide world-beating performances with second-rate footballers.
No - Revie had the brains to realise that he was on a hiding to nothing and that the England managership was a poisoned chalice. (ie, expected to win the World Cup with the international equivalent of Stockport County)
So he did a runner after forty days to take Arab money and manage the Dubai international squad, or something, provoking cries of "Treason!" "Infamy!" "Hang Him High!"
Python incorporated this into the Holy Grail LP with a killing sideways reference to "Alfredo Garcia"...

Upon encountering my father with the bonnet on his car up, I said to him, with all the dignity I could muster, "Bring me the cylinder head of Alfredo Garcia".
Well, I thought I was amusing, anyway ....
Ermmmm, nurse, nurse...

Surely it would have been better to have said "Alfredo Carcia"?

No. I didn't say "Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia" I said "Bring me the map of Diego Garcia"
Key: Complain about this post
