The new US Secretary of Interior, Ken Salazar, is following Bush's plan to delist the grey wolf from the endangered species list in Idaho and Montana. This will put up to two thirds of the Northern Rockies wolf population at risk.
Their populations in these areas have increased due to protections but they have not truly recovered.
