A Conversation for Competitive Ballroom Dancing

I do not believe that the reference to the jive coming from 1950's US Rock n Roll is correct.
The "Ballroom" jive as it was called, was devised during the 2nd World War by Josephine Bradley, Victor Silvester and other promenant Dance Teachers as they were concerned about the number of injuries occuring from couples dancing the jitterbug on a crowded floor. As far as I'm aware most of the variation I learnt as a Medalist in the 1960's were still the originals. Victor Silvester even recorded some strict tempo swing records for this purpose, to allow the Dance Schools to teach this "new" dance.
