They were talking a lot about this on the radio this morning. I felt really sad hearing the news. We've lost a little bit of whats good in the world. No more bizzare home truths or wierd music mixes on later night radio.
Thanks John.
RIP John

I heard John called 'The Midwife of Punk' on the radio yesterday - as he 'delivered' Punk to the masses.
I think the midwifery didn't stop there.
Thinking of you John

I was so shocked when I heard that John had died.
He'll be remembered across the nation with great affection.

I'll third that. It's amazing to think that in many families more than one generation grew up listening to his radio shows.
For me, he made the last two years of boarding school almost bearable.

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Nov 5, 2004
Can't think of anyone who did more to influence my musical tastes than John Peel. He was irreplaceable.

One of my favourite John Peel memories,
After playing some country and western, then some screamcore metal, and then a deep and dark techy drum n bass track.
After the heavy drum n bass track, John was heard to say,
"I really do think that throbbing bass sound should be incorporated into every song."
Classic!!!
RIP John, the worlds a more boring place without you...

I really loved his dead pan tone and humour, perhaps more than some of the music he played. I was actually searching for his program when I first got on the net 9 or 10 months ago now, and came across the Get Writing site, which in due course led me to this site....serindippidy Mr Peel
Rock the clouds Baby!
