Regarding the do's and dont's of trying to get served by a bartender...
After tending bar for +10 years i can say without fear of contradiction that your ideas are correct due to one cause - And self-respecting bartenbder will KNOW who is next in the long line of thirsty consumers and will not be dragged by any means to serve anyone who is not "next" in the queue.
The one thing which is more than annoying is a customer placing his tender on the bar upon receiving his/her tipple. It takes less time to "pour" the tender into the waiting hand of the bartender than to count it out in neat little piles on the bar. My advice - DONT DO IT - you'll be welcome back to the bar if you avoid this like the plague!
