A Conversation for The Stone of Destiny

that the stone is still "owned" by the Crown, and therefore will be returned to England whenever there is a coronation.

(Also a cool legend has it that the original Stone of Destiny was white marble, carved with decorative figures -- not very like the plain slab of yellow sandstone with a single Latin cross carved on it that sat beneath the throne in Westminster Abbey. It's suggested that the stone was the one used to hold down the cover of the cess-pit at Scone Castle. Just rumour, but I thought very cool. I've got more detailed info on this subject if you ever need it. I had to research it for a role playing game, and thought to write an entry. Never mind, my loss. smiley - smiley)

OR Old Charlie Boy could go north and get crowned in Edinburgh. Charles II did, but mostly due to some bloke called Oliver Cromwell smiley - winkeye
I have not heard the white marble bit before, but I have heard of the cess pit lid theory. For a lump of stone, it certainly has a lot of stories to go with it.

Funny, another version I heard was that the (original) stone was black, with inscriptions all around it (possibly in Aramaic, given it was meant to be Jacob's pillow etc etc.)

Are you sure that is not the Kaballah, the meteortie that Muslims pray to in Mecca? I was at one point told what the predominant rock in Palestine (and hence the most likely for Jacob's Pillow) was, but I've forgotten now. Hey ho said Rolly.
