Hello Peoples
Is Howth Castle the same as the Martello Tower? I only mention this because it is mentioned on the back of the Irish Tenner (along with that geezer in Gladiator).
The Irish tenner has to be one of the best notes worldwide, having a handy map of the centre of Dublin, and some handy incomprehensible nonsense by James Joyce on the back.
Thanking U already

Hello Mr Goo Master
I can reveal that in a multiple martello-tower shocker, that the Martello tower at Howth is not the same as the Martello tower mentioned in Ulysses, which is on Sandymount strand to the south of Dublin and is now home to a Germs Choice museum.

The museum is at Sandycove by the "forty foot" bathing place where once was nude bathing but now that it is no longer male only the rules have by neccesity changed.
The Martello tower at Sandymount seems to be occupied by a permanently closed restaurant - but its difficult to tell behind those storm shutters...it could be almost anything .

There's another Martello tower down Bray direction that's for sale at the moment...mad money, of course.
Also - it is a pity that this site doesn't have provision for pictures yet; as the current view from my window across the bay to Howth on this salmon coloured sunset is quite stunning.

I've been on top of Martello tower in Cork. Great views.
