Ah, cl - maybe you could take me to a good - ahem - technology shop while I am in Vancouver?

Just got back to NJ from Niagara with a daytrip to Toronto over the weekend only to find (via one of the friends I'm staying with inbox this evening) we missed a darned good condom (and generally all things male member shaped) in downtown Toronto

AGCB, I would be happy to escort you to the *Love Shop* which is only 3 short blocks from where I type this. However, if my sig oth were to catch us I could not guarantee a safe exit! Not to mention that this would be the very first time I have ever gone to such a place with someone named *Ben*.
I could have them hold a *stealth* model for you, which is a device the size of a large capsule (medicine type) that is connected to it's small battery and control box by a thin cord. One part fits in your knickers and the other in your trouser pocket. I forget which is which.......

Gosh-darn-it! I just fancied being able to say that I had gone to a sex-shop in Vacouver with a bloke I met on the Internet!
Maybe your Sig Oth would like to come to? Er - no - I guess that isn't a good idea either!
Never mind. I am not pining for a good vibrator.

Well, that's just sexist. The one down the road has men and women sales people and they will even model the less racy stuff.

"Is Feminism really Sexism under another name?" - Discuss
Actually I will post that in Ask H2G2 - though it is something of a dead issue in my book.

So serious!
My only concern would be that a *men only* shop would be considered non PC, and yet there are many places that insist on women only.

Only semi-serious.
I think that there are good reasons for having women-only places in siutations where women might otherwise feel vulnerable, and a sex-shop is a case in point. Though I have to say that the few non-feminist sex-shops I have been in have been fine. But it takes a fair amount to inimidate me; especially in somewhere as inherently bizzare and surreal as a sex-shop.
A former colleague of mine was on the receiving end of sexual harrasment with racial overtones at the hands (literally, alas) of another former colleague. She is a feisty girl and even *she* found it intimidating.
I don't consider myself a feminist; (why take the retrograde step back to equality?) but I do see the point of a lot of feminist thinking. Thankfully it is not as extreme or militant in the UK. I am not fond of militant extremists, whatever their gender.

Point well taken, but don't tell any feminists I know who insist on total equality.
*bizzare and surreal*?? If you want spice for the food you need you go to the hot sauce vendor. If you want to make your driving experience better you go to the auto accesory shop.

I find a lot of things bizzare and surreal. Being able to talk to you on this subject in the privacy of my own home is one. Standing outside on a spring afternoon watching planes fly out to Iraq is another. Seeing people drive up to a gym, get out of their cars, and spend half an hour watching MTV while pounding away on a treadmill is a third.
I was having a meal in Stockholm a couple of years ago, and took a personal call, so I went out into the street to take the call. I wandered past the window of what I assumed to be an upmarket sweet shop or gift shop, and eventually focussed on the fact that I was looking at a display of vibrators. They were Jessica Rabbits (of Sex in the City fame), and very prettily displayed they were too. It was only when I dragged out my American colleagues to look at it after the meal that one of them pointed out that it was an Easter Display. Along with the Easter Bunnies there were chicks and eggs, and other eastery things.
Now if that is not bizzare and surreal, even for a sex shop, I don't know what is!

True, but I could imagine that here. I think we may be a little more relaxed about that sort of thing. I should take you to one of our *Amsterdam* cafes, although I have been told I look too much like an undercover officer.

No one has really addressed the question of this thread.
A vibrator should in fact vibrate otherwise it is not fufulling it's purpose.
I'm sure Plato would have agreed if in fact he had a vibrator. Which of course would have had to have been powered either by wind or a water wheel.
