"The main task of Jodrell Bank these days is to serve as a part of NASA's SETI project."
Um, not really. The Lovell Telescope was used as part of a SETI programme a few years ago, but not any more. It is owned and operated by the University of Manchester, who's researchers mainly use it in studies of pulsars. From time to time it is also used as part of MERLIN, the UK's national radio astronomy facility, and the EVN, the European VLBI Network which links up radio telescopes all across Europe. It may be more than 50 years old, but it's still doing cutting-edge science!

Hmm, it's still not quite right, here's what it should say:
---
"The Lovell telescope is owned and operated by the University of Manchester, whose researchers mainly use it in studies of pulsars. From time to time it is also used as part of MERLIN, the UK's national radio astronomy facility, and the EVN, the European VLBI Network which links up radio telescopes all across Europe."

There is a (very) common confusion between "Jodrell Bank" (the place, which includes the research labs, the Visitor Centre, and several other telescopes) and the Lovell telescope (the famous 76-m dish which has *always* been owned by Manchester University). Jodrell Bank was so-named long before astronomers ever arrived there
Sorry to be a bit of a pedant!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
