How could you not mention Michaelangelo, especially the statue of David?! I know what you mean about everything being taken pretty much for granted. Trying to locate the museum with the world's most famous statue (ie David) was next to impossible, as from the outside it looks like any other building in the street. The only clue was a notice outside a building further down the street, reading "David is not here"!

Because I never got around to finishing the whole thing. This articles covers about 2 days of the week we spent there.

I don't think I ever will get around to it now. Subbing takes up most of my little spare time! (if Anna sees this she'll scoff at that!)

How is it possible not to be able to locate "David"?
If you had problems locating "David", you could have asked for a free map at McDonald's, which you would probably have run into looking for the Accademia. They're something like a stone's throw apart, if I remember correctly.(I was there last summer, for only one day).
I was queing for half an hour to get in. But that was nothing, compared to the almost 2hrs outside the Uffizi. This was in the beginning of August, so it was a good thing we were in the shadow...It was definitely worth it! I've bookmarked the Uffizi website to relive (a fraction of) the experience once and again. Here goes:
www.arca.net/uffizi/index1.htm It also has several links relating to Florence.
If you're a student, you should know that these museums generally don't grant discounts on admission. Each of us got ITL 2.000 off on entry into the Doge's palace in Venice, but I think the lady behind the counter was just being nice because i happened to ask. Everywhere else, there was the standard admission fee of ITL12.000. I don't know how much that would be in USD (I pay my bills in NOK), but you can get a pizza for 2 people for about that prize. Not in Venice, though...but in general?

We didn't have problems finding anything in Florence - what I didn't get around to was writing about it all. If I did this article would be 10 times longer!
