It turns out both of Krusty the Clown's assistants are smarter than Krusty himself. While on the show, Mel doesn't speak, but outside he's very proper and well-educated. And he never takes the bone out of his hair.

And lets not forget the Bob nearly committed the perfect frame-up, followed by a near-perfect murder. Then his bro nearly managed to frame him, destroy Springfield, AND make money in the process ... and all three times he was outwitted by Bart!
