Hi Flubber
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate hearing what other carers think about this entry. I know its a bit grim in places but that was intentional. I wanted to inject some sense of reality into the piece, rather make it sound as if everything is ok all the time, as some of the leaflets etc that are handed out to carers often do.
I expect you've heard of the organisations mentioned in the entry but if not I hope you've checked out the links. Keep up the good work

i don't think we have even a part of the stuff you have across the pond. i can highly relate to the mental/ social part of the entry.
it bleeps when you feel alone.
i've tended my dad while employed, and now when i'm really not worth employing. thank goodness for the 'net for helping me feel at least a little part of Life as i continue tending.
Dear Old Dad is age 88 today, in fact.
keep on keeping on......

Hi Random
I thought that might be the case. I've heard the USA described as a 'winner takes all culture' (by the BBC!) but I have no direct experience of this. If its true carers would no doubt be a low priority. Fortunately as you indicate, here in Europe the outlook is a little different-at least for the time being.

that would be the cleveland indians.
yeah, 'caring' doesn't all too much attention over here.....but isn't it really the way our greats and grands folk did it ? the old farmhouse to the internet, with the moon in between.
Key: Complain about this post
