You people normally do a great job, but there are a few things I should like to point out on this entry.

First paragraph: bodyguards, even private bodyguards as used by major corporate leaders, are not quite a new breed of human, they've been around for millenia. You can fix this by changing it to read...
'a new breed of human, that of the celebrity bodyguard —'

The last sentence about Britney Spears may be to topical or current for an entry. Her need for a babysitter may change many times over the next few years.

Career Bodyguard, first paragraph: It would be additionally explanatory to add that bodyguards don't intentionally "take one" if it can be avoided. They prefer to tackle the perp before the threat is realised, or tackle the principal to get them out of the line of fire. And, that the statistical likelihood of surviving a hit is rather good because the perp is normally aiming for a fatal point on the principal, and the randomness of throwing oneself into the line of fire is far more likely to take the hit in a survivable way.

To the Training list, you might add combative driving, martial arts, knowledge of poisons and toxins, and handguns.

To Bodyguards on film, I believe there have been filmed television shows that employed bodyguards.
Kato could be said to be the Green Hornet's bodyguard, and I believe "Fall Guy" worked occasionally as a bodyguard. I think that Hulk Hogan was also in a movie where he played a bodyguard.
Then, there's a 1980 movie titled My Bodyguard, a 2007 movie called Body Armour, a 1998 movie titled His Bodyguard, about a dozen asian films about bodyguards, a 1991 movie called Secret Bodyguard, and a 2004 movie strangely titled Vampire Bodyguard.
