A Conversation for Celebrity Bodyguards

Notes about this piece and about the security industry

I read the post with interest and as a trained and licensed bodyguard myself I was shocked tht the authors did not know that the industry was regulated by the Security Industry Authority SIA and has been for at least 2 years at bodyguard or Close Protection Officer (CPO)level and longer at normal security and door supervision level.

Most of the post was good and accurate but the image of the 7ft tall and 8ft wide lump next to a celebrity are a thing of the past. Now the normal CPO is somone who blends into the background and is only noticed when he is needed. At 2 recent celebrity parties I managed at the first one "lump" brought in by a film star was asked to leave as his image was not in keeping with what the organiser was trying to achieve! This was a fashion event after all, he was a nice guy but this is 2009. On the second event, this week, another celebrity brought in an overzelous bodyguard who was noted in a national newspaper as being overly agressive any time anyone came close to his client, unfortuntly this was in a crowded VIP room where it was impossible not to get close!!

Debusing drills do not refer to getting off a bus!!!smiley - winkeye

I can of course go into this more and more but time is not on my side today!!

Key: Complain about this post
