So how did they choose the guy? Lot-drawing?
(BTW Crescent, consider this Entry Historically linked - http://www.h2g2.com/A240058)

My thanks for the historic link, I went wandering through and found my UH-1 Huey entry there as well made my day With the whole beaten to death bit I would imagine they would of just chosen some poor guy who was probably just passing through, but this is just a guess, I will try to find out for you

silly question - but why no scottish, welsh or irish history?
And then there was Lotto...
Bagpuss Posted Jun 14, 2000
Mustapha put a link to the history section of the Guide:
[(BTW Crescent, consider this Entry Historically linked - http://www.h2g2.com/A240058)]
When clicking on the link - there was only english history, hence the question....

As I scrolled down the Historical Society page I came across a section on places, and it has a bit linking to Scottish articles and Welsh articles, among others such as Russian, Japanese and New Zealand articles. There are 5 or 6 Scottish ones, but only a single Welsh one

Apologies, Bagpuss, I didn't realise I was being queried.
Crescent's already given the location of the links of Celtic historical importance (Scotland, Ireland, Wales, among others). There are also items of interest in the Food and Drink wing
England has been given its own page, or Wing, as I like to call it, because there are simply more Entries on English subject matter with historical content being written (or approved). And the criteria required for receiving a link isn't high.
The only way I can find out about entries to link, is to find them on the front page, or have people tell me about them.
Believe me, I'd love to add a Scottish wing, a Welsh wing, a Canadian wing, etc. And I'm a New Zealander - I'd love to have an Aotearoa New Zealand wing!
If you write an entry about a part of the isles that isn't England, go to the Society, tell me about it. I'll give it link.

oh pressure! Where to start???! I suppose I could start with Mary, Queen of Scots whose son eventually became the first king of Scotland and England I think ever (correct cause I usually am blatantly wrong) Nice and topical!

Mustapha Posted Jun 14, 2000
Mary's a good place to start, although I should point out that entries on people, Scottish or otherwise, usually get put in the Prominent People wing. Ethnic foods and beverages are similarly sorted.

okey dokey - I'll do a bit of thinking then...
