A Conversation for Space Hoppers
Lasted only a few months?

Ours lasted literally years...
And we found a much better use for it than sitting around and hopping on it (although we did plenty of that too).
The thing was born to be swung around the head and hurled with all one's might at one's most deadly rival. The older brother
Of course he got it then and the next trick was to try and avoid the rubber missile as it came back.
...and so on. Usually indoors too (with not parents around obviously).
OMG - I could still do that now!
You know I took lodger of mine and his wife to the museum in Birmingham 3 or 4 years ago and they had a Space Hopper in glass cabinet on display Along with many of my other toys from the mid 70s. Seeing your toys in a museum is surely enough to make anyone feel old.

Oh mine lasted about a year in total, but they were soooooo big and we only lived in a little house .... so I expect it was retired when I wasn't looking.
A museum piece eh! I never thought I'd be old enough to say .... Do you remember 25 years ago let alone 30 odd years ago I feel ancient.
Thanks for taking the time to make me feel like Methuselah.

Yay, someone else with an indestructo one.
My Mum destroyed ours sometime in the mid 80s I'm fairly sure. She sat on it for too long at school fete and it burst, the poor old thing.
I want a new one!

To be fair, I wasnt exactly space hopping 12 hours of a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, for the entire decade... Hang on, lets say 0.5 bounces a second, you go faster, but fall off occsaionally, and you would get tired, so 30 a minute, 1800 an hour... that would be about 7.89 megabounces a year

Ours lasted years. We used to throw it down the garden so it bounced on it's own
Got a bright blue one now which I won a couple of years ago!
