As a product of Cumbernauld I was under the impression that the name of the place far preceeded the building of the canal?

I agree with the meeting of the waters, one I think is the Luggie the other is ??????

Is the Luggie a canal? I always just thought it was some sort of sewer outlet, for kids to play in.

I'm from Cumbernauld too by the waysmiley - sadface

Lord Lurkan: Miming with Intent...

the 'meeting' is of the Luggie and the Red Burn. The colour of the burn is often attributed to its passing through 'Shopping-trolley Glen'. Well, that and the adjacent clay-pits.
Additional alias: Noddyland (one for the optimists)
