very cool.
as to the dark side/Oz theme, there are two strategic places to pause the 'dark side' CD and insert parts of 'meddle' to make the movie and the album finish together.

About time we had an entry on this!
My only gripe - Great Gig in the Sky is of course another way of saying someone has carked it, kicked the bucket, etc and Claire Torry's vocals are an interpretation of grief.

Fab entry, Gnomon.
I'm off to wind up my kerosene operated 4th world record player and listen to the hissy scratchy version that I love so much.

Very nice entry indeed! 'bout time, too!
But in the tradition of pointing out small, inconsequential errors (I missed this one in PR, sorry) - if you're trying to keep the song order consistent with the discussions of them in this article, Any Colour You Like is actually after Us And Them, not before.
In any event, this article has inspired me too to dig out my SACD version and play it, so thanks very much for that! One can see why this album kept selling, we kept wearing the vinyl LPs out before the days of CDs. Being only a little older than the album itself myself, I was part of the "ten years later" crowd that got into Floyd boys right about the time of their breakup in '83. Actually, one of the funniest theories on why people bought so many copies of DSOTM was this joke I'd first heard by some DJ from Chicago - that those people who'd bought it were, shall we say, fans of herbal enhancement, and kept forgetting that they'd bought it in the first place.

It really deserves to have sold so many. It hasn't dated at all, its one of the finest examples of a well put together album (irrespective of the music) there is, and has some fantastic lines.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

Oh yeah, Us and Them and Any Colour are the wrong way round on how you've bu it, but apart from that it's great!

I'm playing this album to the Gruesome Twosome this week (and any other Floyd that isn't scratched to death) because we're going to see a Pink Floyd tribute band (!) on Saturday.

I've heard MacFloyd are excellent. I've seen the Australian Pink Floyd Show and I can definitely recommend them
