There's a mandolin shaped hole in my life right now; but better to have loved & lost than never to have loved at all eh?

Lovely Entry: well done that man!smiley - applause

Sorry i didn't reply to your "win a mandy" post; i was in hospital at the time & it got snarfelled up in backlog.

I reckon you should work on getting a little duo/trio/whatever together & consider a nice cheap tour of Oirish pubs in France, they are crying out for anything resembling decent folk music. Email me if you're interested & maybe we could work something out...

Thanks. I had a mandolin shaped hole in my life until a year ago, and I never knew it.

The mandolin giveaway is repeated from time to time, apparently. I'll let you know when I hear of the next one - meantime, please stay out of the hospital (what I mean, of course, is stay well)

Oirish pubs in France? Dire need for decent folk music? I must consider this seriously.

Yes, there are Irish pubs in France! Useful for going in and asking directions.

Mandolin and guitar: a couple made in heaven. In Portugal it is guitarra http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_guitar (a mandolinish cittern) and viola (= guitar).

This site's a wee bit out of date, but gives you some idea; in most of Europe, you can hardly turn a corner without finding an Oirish Bar!
