Does anyone know of this will ever be shown on cable or regular television in United States? Or released on video? I've been dying to see it ever since I heard!

Yes, "Back and Forth" is available on DVD in the US. Probably not at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video as they tend to only stock mass appeal stuff. Try NetFlix.com

I have an idea it may have been called "Blackadder 5" in the US, could be wrong though.

I saw Back and Forth at the dome and was a little disapointed. The episode was obviously written for a family audience, with all of the infamous smutty inuendo left out.

It was like a cross between Time Team and the Dr Who 'charity' specials.

In fact, it had as much comedy value as a hyena, badly in need of sense of humour transplant, telling Jimmy Tarbuck jokes.

Are we talking about the one that has already been shown numerous times and on bbc some tima ago?

Not likly. Blackadder Back & Forth is a film, (a short one at that) and it was exclusive to the mellenium (i hope i spelt that right) dome.

It's quite good: still funny but at the same time, you know its just a rushed thing...

I think it's like the first series in that it's not as good as the rest, but people who describe it as the worst comedy ever are just overreacting. the problem is that series 2, 3, amd 4 are among the best comedy series ever, while series one, back and forth, cavalier years and christmas carol are merely quite good, but those who expect the quality of the best series end up disappointed.

And also- "all of the smutty innuendo left out".

what about "giving it to the poor"

The Cavalier years was a 15 minute comic relief special in 1987 (I think), which is actually on the DVD of Back and Forth, if yopu can find a library stocking it. It was set during the civil war, with Stephen fry as King Charles, Warren Clarke (The millowner in B.A. the third and Dalziel in Dalziel and Pasco) as Oliver Cromwell, and, of course, Rowan Atkinson and tony robinson as the King's loyal servants, Blackadder (complete with poodle perm) and baldrick. Basically Baldrick inadvertantly tells Cromwell where the King is staying, then accepts £1000 to cut his head off, but Blackadder does it instead. Also Stephen fry plays King Charles as Prince Charles in a very funny manner.

Blackadder's Christmas Carol (quite possibly made in 1988) featured the Kind noble Ebenexer Blackadder who is visited by the ghost of christmas (Robbie Coltrane) by mistake, but the ghost stays for a whisky and shows him past and futurew anyway, the past being new clips with the casts and characters of the 2nd and 3rd series in christmas surroundings, and the future being a space aged one, and this makes Blackadder turn scrooge-like. i think that one's coming out on DVD next month.

like I said before, they're not as goood as the best series, but probably slightly better than s1 or back and forth. they've both got some very fuuny moments.

Back & Forth

Post 17

still worth a watch though: even if it were only s1 standard.
