As with the case of the 13th floor in sky-scrapers not existing, the same applies to the seating rows in airplanes.
Next time you're going somewhere by plane and aren't seated too far back (like row 35), take a look at the numbers of the rows.
You will see that there is no row 13. It jumps directly from 12 to 14. And that goes for every plane I've ever been in.
And with regards to the Chinese and Japanese number 4, there are no hotels in Japan or China that has the room number 4.

There is also no Gate 13 from which you board a plane in an airport. At least, there's none where I work in Calgary.
