I'm surprised no-one has mentioned another origin of the fear of Friday 13th- This happened about 1271 or thereabouts when the French King at the time, whose family owed a lot of money to the Knights Templar, (those rich guys who funded, fought and died for the christian belief in the crusades- remember?) - ordered the destruction in it's entirety of that noble order- on Friday 13th October- with the blessing of the Pope!- Fairly easy to research this too as there are plenty of references on the internet.
