A Conversation for MASH: A General Overview

To clarify:

The tent that Hawkeye, Duke, and Trapper shared -- NOT the hospital they worked at -- was known as "the Swamp".

A "Section 8" is a military discharge on the grounds of insanity, not a plea of insanity.

The TV series *ran* for over a decade, meaning that new episodes were produced for that long. It *existed* (as the article states), well, it still exists, and is in reruns regularly. Some say that at any given moment, somewhere in the world, M*A*S*H is on...

One of these errors was definately mine. At least one was from subediting. Because the original article was lost in a small mishap (not my fault, not Ginger's, either) I'm not sure who is to blame for the first -- it could have been unclear the way I wrote it...

Hmmm... good point. I don't know that that'll get done, though, as I'm sure Anna has more pressing buisness elsewhere.

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me!

Thanks for including M*A*S*H in the guide, it wouldn't be complete without. I think the show became an institution over the years. If ever I'm channel surfing and come on a scene then I always stop to watch the rest of the episode. You can never get too much of a good thing.

You're right, h2g2 would not be right without an article on M*A*S*H. It's appeared in the Simpsons at least twice, once when Homer wins a M*A*S*H coulouring book and once where Homer gets offered something stupid like a million dollars to let Marge go on a second prom with the high school nerd. As they ride of in the helicopter, the M*A*S*H tune plays and a sign appeares made from clothes on the ground (much like in the episode 5o clock charlie) saying keep your clothes on. M*A*S*H has also appeared in Mostly Harmless but only as a reference- Something along the lines of Tricia had a pleasant journey watching reruns of M*A*S*H. Also after the series ended, Trapper did a series (unsuccessfully) about Trapper when he got home. For more info go onto www.mash4077.co.uk

That's one of my favorite reference sites for M*A*S*H. I sometimes search the episode listings, hunting for that elusive creature: an episode I haven't seen. They do exist, they're just very rare. An endangered species.

I know. I've seen every episode in the series (plural) with Frank in except possibly for ONE where Frank is in charge and bans alcohol throughout the camp. I think it's called prohibition. And I've seen about half of the ones in the first series with Charles. They're showing them on Pramount (127 on sky at 7.00p.m).

I'm missing bits and peices here and there. There are lots of episodes I've seen PARTS of. The one where Hawkeye gets claustrophobia, for instance. I've only seen the end of that. Same goes for the one where they make Frank popular.

Der Tag, is a very funny episode. That is one of my favourites. Hawkes nightmare is another one I like, where Hawkeye has a reccuring dream. I heard a very erm.. strange version of suicide is painless today. Listen to my story...

I don't know if you're aware of the gothic singer, Marilyn Manson, but I recently purchased the single of 'tainted love' from an 'aquaintance'. After listening to the first track, the second track came on with a very slow tune. I flicked to the next track and it was worse than the one before. I listened again to the first 2 tracks, playing close attention to the words. Suddenly, a fimiliar sentance was phrased...
'through early morning fog I see,'
surprise surprise!
Hehehe.

RULE ANARCHY.

I know. I don't think MM would exactly own up to being a M*A*S*H fan. I'll see if I can find a website with a download on.
