A Conversation for An Introduction to The Beatles

On my boy's third birthday we took him to see a Beatle Look alike band at a "dinner club" It was actually in the afternoon and a Beatle convention had been going on all weekend in the big room and the small rooms around it. It was just up the Hill from the Goodyear Blimp Airdock where they launched the first "EarthWinds" high altitude balloon. My brother was the stage manager there, but wasn't there that day.
Th radio station was there with a d.j. and the first drummer for the Beatles, Pete Best. Dia McKay was the m.c. and invited people to step up to the unfolded card-table and get an autograph from Pete Best. The line formed up and there were like 85 people in line. Me and my little Beatle-inspired kid and my ex wife waited through the hour long intermission and me and Egan got in line last. The line wound down and we finally got up to the auxilliary card-table where they were selling a few copies of the book (I already had the book) and Pete Best sitting next to Dia McKay signing the book (for those who were buying. For months I had played Beatle cartoons and Beatle vynal discs for my boy to indoctrinate him to the chord changes and the lyric rythyms of the Fab Four. I repeatedly encouraged him to declare that JOHN LENNON was our favorite Beatle.
I handed Egan the (empty) album sleeve of the Decca session with Pete Best's picture on the back. I hoisted him onto my shoulders; people were video taping us. I said "Mister Best, er... Pete, I've always admired your work" and Egan was waving the empty album sleeve around, sitting on my shoulders.
I said, "Egan, who's your favorite Beatle?" and my 3 year old gleefully said,
"Ringo!"
Dia McKay just about blew chunks.
