They did remove the manual (and cash) element from crossing the bridge (in 2008 or 2009). You can still go over the bridge without an e-tag. this results in your licence being photographed and a timer to start. I understand that if you haven't acquired a "casual pass" and paid for the trip within 3 days you will get a fine - per the RTA web page here --> https://www.myrta.com/wps/portal/extvp/myrta/etoll/product-pass/!ut/p/b1/04_SjzS0MDG0NDcwMtGP0I_KSyzLTE8syczPS8wB8aPM4g08XAPCQo3MDQ2CPc0MPJ1Cw_zDHI0NLUINgAoiQQpwAEcDQvq99KMKivJTSpNLAhKLi_XD9aPw6gAZiE-Bu5kxTAFuJ_l55Oem6udG5VhkZwakAwA83W8w/dl4/d5/L2dBISEvZ0FBIS9nQSEh/
