Created | Updated Feb 19, 2004

Voting has begun in this year's H2G2 Academy awards. 'What?' I hear you cry I've already nominated. That may be so but this year for the first time we have introduced a second round of voting, having closed the nominations last week.
So what do you have to do?
First peruse the list of nominees below. Secondly select your favourite from each of the categories in which you have an opinion. Thirdly send them to the secret ballot box at [email protected]. You have until Oscar Night 29 February at the start of their ceremony before voting for our awards closes. So here are the h2g2 Academy nominees. But first, here is the news from this week's BAFTA awards.
The Baftas
The Big winner with five awards was The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It won best film as the critics choice and the Orange Peoples' Choice, as well as usual special effects awards. Acting honours went to Lost in Translation with Bill Murray and 19-year-old Scarlett Johansson winning the two leading categories. Renee Zellweger won one of only two awards that the most nominated film Cold Mountain gained from their 13 nods from the academy. British film maker Michael Winterbottom's refugee film In This World won the best foreign film award.
Shocks on the night included Bill Nighy for his role in Love
Actually. The documentary Touching The Void also proved a shock beating Cold Mountain and Girl With a Pearl Earring to win the Alexander Korda prize for British film of the year. However the big shock came with the award to a Peter for best Director. Australian Peter Wier beat Kiwi Peter Jackson with the Russell Crowe starring epic Master and Commander: The Other Side of the World.
