The pitch is parallel to the shoreline so that the waves runup ends just outside the batsman's offstump. The stumps are usually an empty drinks crate or a garbage can. The bat in old days used to be any ol' piece of wood, tree branch etc. and the ball was anything from a small coconut to a tennis ball. Nowadays you'll play with a bat (or piece of wood) and a tennis ball.
No LBW rules apply. Any number of people can play.
