Assuming we get all six billion folk to drop in and lend a hand!

Well, if someone asked you to help save the world, you wouldn't say, "Oh, I've got box-seats for the Yankees-Mets game next Saturday, ask someone else," now would you?

It's a good place to stand, a "moral compass" to point the way.
There is a lot of terrible things happening to people all over the world, look around if you see some one who needs your assistance..Unfortunetly the earth curves and a line of sight is just that. Information is our best tool to help and I belive we are on the rite track. Awareness can be a powerfull weapon against oppression so to make a diffrence speek up but stick to what you see if you want to be taken seariously.

No, they just won't believe you. I mean, how do you think someone will react --- "What? Save the world?", and then they'd get to the excuses - everything for "Ah, there's a billion other people who'll do it" to "But I've got the box-seats for the Yankees-Met game ..."
The point is, with so many people on this planet, no-one sees it as THEIR problem.

Ah but I am afraid they aren't. The vast majority of them don't give a damn. They will agree in principle if you ask them but not if it affects their lives one iota. (And thirty seconds later will have forgotten the question)

Oops, that was meant to refer to the six billion people I don't think will be interested.
Yes I agree that most people will always watch a ball game ahead of saving the world. Certainly ball games are more important than recycling your glass and tins. I mean, you have to drive to the nearest bins and you'd miss something.

I was told long ago that I could'nt save the world all by myself, that I should settle for making small ripples instead of big waves. What kind of an impact has an excuse ever made on anything? Your rite that it is a common coarse of action, however some well meaning people did write this piece of paper we are dicussing. All we need now is a good place to stick the leaver. Let me know if you find one,I'll be there to pry.

People in important places (eg. politicans) helps. But no-one* would elect them on their policies. Celebs are good, but they always seem insincere, due to the $$$ they've got.
*: not enough to get them in.

You can make big ripples in small ponds, or small ripples in big ponds. To do both you need bloodymindedness, and luck....

Well, with collective action, inspired by the above declaration, we ought to be able to make a fair-sized ripple.

Hey! There's an idea! How about setting up a "H2G2 World Reform Commitee"!
Anybody interested?

Sounds good, Gaurav. Why don't you create the forum on your page, and we can get organized there.

Copperbard Posted Jun 22, 2000
An organizing panel, Board of directors but please try not to use the "C" word. There has been enough recomendations made and the facts do not need to be found, what the world needs is action. How about a directory where we can post a problem, have a discussion, break it down to manegable units and track the progress.

We could probably knock up an individual document of rights and responsibilities and then if everyone stuck to it we would, by default, have "universal human rights".
So - I'll give you a starter: "I will not kill another human being, nor support any politician who advocates the same"
An individual declaration of human rights
Copperbard Posted Jun 23, 2000
That one will cover alot, we'll have to break it down to sub articiles to elliminate loop holes and give everyone else room for input.
Article A,section 2.0

to participate in.

I will treat people fairly and respect the value that they place on their goods, labor, and time.

(set up a forum on my page, I mean)
Good idea (I am wrong and you are right, I mean). If we all did that, the world would be, on the whole, more right. Of course, it would mean humility, the opposition to which is buried as deeply into the human psyche as sex.

That would be mighty white of you RACIST, I mean RACEY.
The door to enlightenment is easy to find, there is an awfully long line though.
My colored friends and I went to the movies instead.
I'm sorry but I just had to check out the home page of the last respondent, and guess what I found? Doe'snt the KKK have thier own web site?
If I'm way off base you should look up the word Bigot and do some editing.
