come on in we are always happy to have visitors
it just so happens that at times we find ourselves all alone and this is bad because we tend to ramble on and get all mushy
good thing you showed up before something likethat happened....goodness, might have someone thinking we actually liked each other or something LOL!!!

'Nonnie.....help me out here. What I have is a "Military Brat" who doesn't understand farm life!
She understands city life and foreign countries very well......but has no knowledge of "country life"!

no understanding of country life??....what's there to understand???
if you are "country" then you fill your home with tacky ducks dressed in plaid, use as much dusty blue as possible for the interior walls carpet and such and if you fancy yourself "upperclass country" you then proceed to decorate your kitchen in that awful cow pattern that seems to of grown so popular

Don't mean to interupt but I have one question. I am a city boy so that is why I ask this. I thought pigs don't like the sun, dead or alive. Isn't MUD a pigs best friend besides the butcher?

AHHA! See, I am not alone in not understanding dead pigs being happy in sunshine and just how you would know they were happy to be in the sun because they were dead. Dead things, normally, don't have any emotions and as for that look on his face...well, we don't even want to go there
Ok, smarty pants! Go on, explain LOL!!

Well, the idea that pigs like mud is false. Actually pigs are very clean animals...and prefer to stay that way.
They also have a great love for sunning themselves. The problem is, pigs have very tender skin that is easily subject to sunburn. They use the mudpack as a sunscreen so they can enjoy "the rays" without skin damage.
Thats' why their mudhole is referred to as a "hog waller"(hog wollow" for any Yankee out there!) They don't stay in the mud, they just wallow around in it for a minute then get out and lay in the sun.
So, you see, a pig is happiest when lieing in the sun....why being dead would help, I'm not really sure. Perhaps its' because it could eternally lie in the sun and never have to get in the mud again!?
