h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hey,

I need advice. I have a girlfriend, shes smart, pretty, funny and roughly 20 miles away from my home town. Now due to certain circumstances I'm unable to see her often. We do call each other often but we have these awkward pauses. Once we get to talking we have lots of fun. But at first we never can seem to find a topic. Please reply if you have any suggestions.

Keep a journal. Write your random thoughts, actions and the happenings of your life, as well as how it all makes you feel. Don't tell her you're keeping it. Keep it handy when you two are on the phone. When you hit an awkward pause flip to a random page and start talking about what is on the page. Beats looking around the room for inspiration.
