If you consider evolution then the organism that uses the least energy to survive will prevail. Could this be expanded to say:
The nth differential of energy with respect to time tends to zero.
For n=1 this is saying solutions that do less work will prevail. For n=2 this is saying that less powerful solutions will prevail.
I do not rule out powerful solutions as sometimes being the best way to a longer term low energy state.
