Thanks to Monkey Magic a show from China overdubbed with english voices, I learnt about buddism at an early age....
The show was filled with buddist sayings and funky music and captured a large audience in Australia in the early 80's on the ABC.

Does anyone else out there remember monkey?

sure do remember it. sure do like how they've been playing it saturday mornings also.
aah monkey, with your quick temper and rigid pride
aah pigsy, with your thoughtless hedonistic ways
aah sandy, with your...necklace of skulls...
aah tripitaka, with your gender ambiguity
how we love and delight in your escapades

Fate Amenable To Change

Japenese not Chinese.

Born from an egg on a mountain top,
Monkey is funky that ever popped,
He knew every magic trick under the sun,
Tease the Gods and everyone can have some fun.
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic ooh!

Yes, loved the show. Taught me a lot about life.

By the way, the voice of Monkey was dubbed over by Andrew Sachs who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers.
